Equestrianism: Bans on Russia and Belarus Lifted

It has been reported that the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) has lifted its bans on Russian and Belarussian athletes and officials.

Since March 2022, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, riders, horses and officials from Russia and Belarus have been prohibited from representing their countries under their national flags at FEI events.

The lifting of the bans means that participants from Russia and Belarus will no longer be required to compete as Neutral Individual Athletes.

The FEI is also allowing events to be held in Russia under regulations, which are due to come into effect on 5 October 2026.

The FEI decision follows the announcement, in June 2026, by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that the IOC is provisionally lifting its suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee.

The FEI stated that it would like to "take this opportunity to reiterate its support for the people of Ukraine".
