Arvid Lindblad, who is 18 years old will become Britain's youngest ever Formula 1 driver, when he makes his debut for Red Bull at the first of this year’s Formula 1 season in the Australian Grand Prix, which takes place in Melbourne on 8 March 2026.
He was informed of Red Bull's decision to promote him to their second team at the 2025 Qatar Grand Prix, where he was competing in the penultimate round of the Formula 2 championship.
He joined the Red Bull driver programme at the age of 13 as a promising go-karter.
Naturally, Lindblad is very excited about his promotion and remarked:
“From the beginning I wanted to be in F1, and I believed for some reason that I could."
And added:
"I don't know if that was false hope or what, but from five I believed I could be in F1, and that was always what I was working towards.”
It will be interesting to see how he gets on and perhaps he could become another Lewis Hamilton!
