It has been announced that the World Governing Body of Association Football, FIFA, has opened an office in New York City, United States, in Trump Tower.
The President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, stated as follows:
“FIFA [is] a global organisation [and] to be global you have to be local, you have to be everywhere, so we have to be in New York,”
And added:
“Not just for the FIFA Club World Cup this year and the FIFA World Cup next year – we have to be in New York as well when it comes to where our offices are based.”
This move follows the opening last year of a FIFA office in Miami, Florida, where the organisation’s legal division and some staff, who are responsible for organising and staging this year’s Club World Cup and next year’s World Cup, are based.
Infantino is a member of the FIFA World Cup 2026 task Force, set up by and chaired by President Trump, whose aim is to ensure the smooth planning, organisation and staging of the tournament, to be hosted jointly by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
It has also been announced that President Trump will attend the final of the FIFA Club World Cup, which will be held at the MetLife Stadium in New York City on 13 July 2025.
