Football: Champions League Final

By Prof Dr Ian Blackshaw

It has been reported that two Belgian football fans hid in toilets at the Allianz Arena in Munich for 27 hours in order to watch for free the UEFA Men’s Champions League final held on 31 May 2025.

It appears that they managed to get into the ground the day before, then emerged to watch the match.

They stuck homemade 'out of order' signs on the toilet cubicle doors and waited in silence for more than a day before emerging.

They had with them backpacks containing snacks and they played around on their mobile phones to kill time.

The lights were on all the time and their sitting positions were uncomfortable, which made sleep for them virtually impossible.

As soon as they heard fans using the toilets on matchday, they came out of their hiding place and made it past a ticket check before taking their seats in one of the stands.

Neither the Arena nor UEFA have commented on this daring incident, which they have recounted on social media, and which says little for football stadium security!
