United States: St Patrick’s Day Skiing Warning!

By Prof Dr Ian Blackshaw

Today, March 17, is St Patrick’s Day and is celebrated around the World by the Irish diaspora, not least in the United States with its large Irish immigrants.

A traditional way of celebrating is to down a glass or two - or more - of Guinness or Irish whisky.

But be warned! If you are planning to do so and hit the slopes for skiing in the State of Wyoming, danger may await you in the famous and popular ski resort of Jackson Hole

You had better be sober.

Under a State Law, which was enacted in 2011, you may not be impaired whilst skiing and could be hit with a US$ 200 fine or 20 days in jail or both, if found to be inebriated on the slopes.

So, in the interests of your safety and that of your fellow skiers, and obeying the law, save the Guinness and the whisky for après ski!
