As a footnote to the post of 10 February 2017 on E-Sports by Turkish Lawyer Emre Bilginoglu, it has been announced, on 9 February 2017, that the National Basketball Association (NBA) has teamed up with videogames publisher, Take Two Interactive, to create an E-Sport League in the US.
Eventually, all 30 of the NBA teams will have an e-sports division.
The basketball e-league will start playing in 2018 and will be known as the NBA2K ELeague.
NBA Commissioner, Adam Silver, commented:
“We believe we have a unique opportunity to develop something truly special for our fans and the young and growing e-sports community.”
In fact, some estimates indicate that, in the next five years, E-Sports, could become bigger than real sport as far as generating money and fans are concerned.
Another instance of technology taking over our world!
