It has now been reported that LIV Golf is expected to be wound down after its new investor, BC Partners Credit, has withdrawn its support because the proposed new league has failed to attract enough players.
It will be recalled that BC Partners Credit was expected to provide US$300 million (around €266.7 million) in financing after the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund withdrew its support in April 2026, which led to LIV Golf filing for bankruptcy protection in September 2026.
The funding could have helped the competition to continue in a new form, to be known as LIV 2.0, but BC Partners Credit has apparently decided that this is not viable.
