It has now been reported that the President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, has indicated that more money could be distributed to FIFA members from its reserves, which are estimated to be worth around £4.4 billion (around €5.1 billion).
In a letter, which he has sent, on 28 September 2026, to the six FIFA continental confederations, he has stated that he would support "the greatest level of additional funding that can responsibly be delivered".
This follows a demand, which has been made by UEFA and CONCACAF, that FIFA pays US$10 million (around €8.8 million) to its 211 members, and Infantino’s proposal will be considered by the FIFA Council on 15 October 2026.
In this letter, Infantino has again claimed that the FFE proposal to sell stakes to private investors in FIFA competitions, including the World Cup, had been intended to enable FIFA to invest more money in football.
