It has been reported that global soccer fan groups have launched a petition denouncing the FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, and urging him to resign after he proposed selling investments in future World Cups to private investors.

Called ‘The InfantinOut’, the campaign claims that his proposal, which was abandoned amidst a backlash, exposed a betrayal of the game as well as a need to rebuild FIFA to prevent recurrence.

The petition highlights concern over concentrated power, opaque decision-making, and a lack of accountability within FIFA; and calls for democratic governance and reform.

Whilst UEFA and other regional bodies have voiced no confidence or criticism, Infantino has, so far, resisted resigning.

This latest development follows broader criticisms of his leadership and past support for controversial projects, such as the European Super League and a two-year World Cup cycle.

The pressure on Infantino continues!
