The FIFA Men’s World Cup 2026 has been fraught with several pricing, legal and other issues, on which we have reported on the SLT website.

The latest one to hit the forthcoming tournament concerns the prices of train and bus tickets to the eight matches, including the final, which will be held at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, near New York City.

As a result of an outcry by fans, led by the England Football Supporters' Association, the price of a train ticket has been cut from US$150 (around €128) to US$98 (around €83), whilst shuttle bus fares are being reduced to US$20 (around €17) from US$80 (around €68).

It may be mentioned that train tickets from Penn Station in Manhattan, New York City, to the venue, which is a distance of about 18 miles, are normally priced at US$12.90 (around €11) for the return fare.
