THE COURT OF ARBITRATION FOR SPORT (CAS) CONFIRMS THE DECISION TAKEN BY THE WORLD ATHLETICS DISCIPLINARY TRIBUNAL IN RELATION TO NORAH JERUTO (KAZAKHSTAN)
Lausanne, 25 June 2024 - The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed the appeal filed by World Athletics (WA) against the decision issued on 27 October 2023 (the Challenged Decision) by the World Athletics Disciplinary Tribunal in relation to the long-distance runner Norah Jeruto (Kazakhstan).
Accordingly, the Challenged Decision in which Norah Jeruto was found not to have infringed the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules (“ADR”) in relation to alleged abnormalities in her Athlete Biological Passport (“ABP”) is confirmed.
In its appeal to CAS, WA had sought the imposition of a four-year period of ineligibility. The CAS Panel held a hearing on 17 and 18 June 2024. Having deliberated, the CAS Panel has issued the operative part of its decision today dismissing WA’s appeal.
The reasoned award will be notified to the parties in due course and published by CAS unless the parties request confidentiality.
