Britain’s most successful Olympian, Laura Kenny, has announced her retirement from cycling.

Kenny, who is 31 years old and married to Jason Kenny, a former cyclist and the most decorated British male Olympian, has five Olympic gold medals and seven World Championship titles to her name.

She stated that she wishes to spend more time with her young family.

And added:

I have had an absolute blast but now is the time for me to hang that bike up.”

The CEO of the British Olympic Association, Andy Anson, described Kenny as:

A true legend of British Olympic sport.”

As to her future, Kenny stated that she is “open to doing anything and everything” and hopes to be at the Paris Summer Olympic Games “in some capacity.”

We wish her well!
