NIKE, the leading US sports shoes and apparel multi-national company, has announced that it is leaving Russia, as a result of the Russian military invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022.
This follows the temporary closure, soon after the invasion, of its stores in Russia, which will now be permanently closed.
Its website and app will no longer be available in the country and NIKE will not be renewing its licensing agreements with Russian retailers.
NIKE is the latest leading western company to pull out of Russia, which includes McDonald’s, COCA-COLA, Starbucks, Google and BP, which has close ties with Russia.
What a very sad situation!
